21 Aug Lost my vision, but found my voice!
“Hi Ron!
Thanks for all the good you do for our community by providing the best art supply store in the country and supporting artists in so many ways!
I wanted to share my story and the part Artisan played in what has happened to me and my art. Several years ago I had a stroke that made me lose the vision in my right eye. It changed so many things in the way I see the world and the way I had to change the art I was used to creating. I knew there was some other way for me to express myself. I decided to experiment with every medium that crossed my path. Artisan’s free Saturday demos gave me that opportunity. I attended a workshop led by the amazing Sharon Dozer about how to create from your deepest sacred self and I was completely inspired. I tried everything in the demos, enjoyed them all, but when I touched Gamblin’s cold wax medium demonstrated by Ginnie Cappeart I knew that was it for me! Every evening for months I experimented with the possibilities by combining it with oil paint and layering it until it came time to carve into it to create my final painting.
Fast forward two years. I am now thrilled to be represented by galleries in Dallas, Scottsdale, Crested Butte and right here in Santa Fe at Bill Hester Fine Art on Canyon Road! I’ll be forever grateful to Artisan for exposing me to the brand new medium that allowed me to create my “Soulscapes”! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Creatively and gratefully,
Lisa
