ARTIST STATEMENT
My artistic and creative goals are to become a graphic designer.
As part of my current curriculum at school I am enrolled in three art classes, Computer Graphics, Painting and Drawing 2, and Jewelry. This year I had one computer graphics piece, one mixed media piece, and two jewelry pieces selected to be presented in the APS Metro Art Gallery. I am a junior in high school and at the end of this year I am meeting with CNN to talk about my transition in my senior year into the Graphic Arts Program at CNN. Not only do I work on art at school, I generally have an art project going on at home.
By being awarded this fellowship I would continue to use the funding as a part of my regular school work for art projects at school. Most importantly I would not be limited because of funding for supplies to continue my art projects at home. I have been offered space to display my work at a popular coffee shop in Mountaineer, NM. With this funding I will be able to spend my time, especially this summer creating pieces to put on display at this coffee shop.
