Here are some Demo highlights:
I do not paint mental ideas. I paint from the feelings of my heart. To do this I must be in touch with my own self at a deep level and then I can connect and open to what I call “sacred space”.
I want to PLAY with a form, a line, a dot, without having to know where it is going or what it is. I have to trust my process over my intellect and be willing to NOT know what it means, where it is going or what it is. Be willing to NOT KNOW!
The possibility and value of art is that there are these transformative moments, the surprise of discovering something beyond our usual perception.
Symbols are archetypes that are part of the collective consciousness. they have been around and inspired people since the dawn of human consciousness. Without having to know why, something ancient is stimulated within us. Archetypes and symbols stand for the sacred at the center of all things. By connecting with symbols we can access an ancient image language.
In order for me to paint, I must create a sacred space for myself where I feel safe.
Here are some of the ways that help me to open to the place in myself where I can access a different dimension, where I can be fully alive in the moment and connect to my deepest source of creativity….
Dance to tribal music, being in nature, flute playing, drumming, visualization, inspirational objects, dream images, an altar in my studio, poetry, shamanic journey. All of these take me out of my intellect so that I can connect more deeply to my inner self…
